Hello! First, I would like to thank you for taking an interest in viewing my website. I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado and Virginia, as well as Telehealth Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the states of Florida, South Carolina and Idaho. I specialize in working with adolescents and young adults, however I have previous experience working with individuals of all ages. In addition to working in private practice, I am also currently working on receiving my PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision. I present to the counseling space with the mindset of promoting transparency, non-judgement and genuineness in my work. With this in mind, I integrate a variety of therapeutic modalities to ensure I am meeting my client where their needs lie. This may include incorporating behavioral therapy techniques, trauma-informed counseling techniques, expressive arts therapy techniques and music therapy techniques. I emphasize the importance of combining therapies that focus on both the mind and body to promote a holistic healing experience. I look forward to guiding you through your therapeutic journey to reach ultimate wellness, in the way that you want this to look like in your life.

Reaching out for support can feel overwhelming, and I believe one of the most important parts of therapy is creating a space where you feel safe, heard, and understood. My goal is to provide a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental environment where you can explore life's challenges at your own pace.
I approach counseling through a person-centered lens, believing that each individual is the expert of their own life. I value empathy, authenticity, and the therapeutic relationship as the foundation for growth and healing, while helping clients build on their existing strengths and resources.
I am passionate about helping others navigate life's challenges while fostering resilience, self-awareness, and hope. I am honored to walk alongside clients as they work toward healing and personal growth.

My clients would say I’m accepting, compassionate, patient, and straightforward. I use a combination of person-centered therapy, Internal Family Systems, and solution-focused and mindfulness based practices to help you regulate your nervous system, take action toward creating a more fulfilling life, and shine a light on the patterns holding you back.
I came to pursuing counseling after working through my own complex trauma, anxiety, and people pleasing, as well as exploring my own identity as a neurodivergent and queer individual. As an intellectualizer, it took me time to learn how to connect with what I was feeling and express that, and I love helping people to express themselves more fully.

Hello there! I’m Joey Crispino. I’m an East Coaster at heart, but have been living in the Boulder/Denver area for 12 years; and my true essence as a counselor blends these two mindsets by addressing conflict head on while allowing space for growth. I graduated from CU Boulder with a Bachelors in Psychology & Neuroscience. I utilize evidence-based research alongside Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Also, I often incorporate mindfulness as a foundation for my practice.
Over the years, I’ve worked in Addiction Recovery Centers and as a Mental Health Professional in the greater Denver hospital system. I have experience working in higher levels of care and a strong understanding of one who struggles with addiction, substance use, and recovery. I also have a trauma-informed care background while being well-versed in medication management needs and coordinated care with other health care professionals. I understand that when those difficult times come, it is a culmination of the support we have and our ability to adapt with our lifestyle to get us back on track.
I focus on addressing the impact of anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, and technology on adolescents, the family, and couples. I have experience counseling seniors and am familiar with aspects of grief counseling.
Outside of the therapy room, some of my passions include: playing music (bass), rock climbing or hiking, skateboarding and snowboarding, muay thai and kickboxing, coffee and tea, and retro video games to name a few. I’m excited to work with you and support you any way I can!

My approach to counseling is warm, collaborative, and client-centered. I believe that each person brings a unique story, set of experiences, and strengths into the counseling process. Because of this, I strive to create a supportive environment where you feel comfortable exploring challenges, gaining insight, and working toward meaningful goals.
I believe therapy is most effective when it is built on a strong therapeutic relationship. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, adjusting to a new phase of life, facing relationship concerns, or seeking personal growth, I am committed to walking alongside you throughout the process.
I grew up in the Kansas City area before moving to Colorado to pursue my counseling degree. Outside of counseling, I enjoy reading, sewing, traveling, and staying active through lacrosse. I am also an assistant high school lacrosse coach and enjoy being outside.
